Between the Fifities and Sixties an important fleet of Six metres International Rule flourished in Barcelona, divided among the two historic Clubs of the Town: The Real Club Marítimo and the Real Club Náutico. These boats were generally purchased out of Spain, as second hand boats that were no longer competitive on international races. They created a long lasting racing period, either between buoys as long distance races sailing even 50 miles to Tarragona on the South and Rosas to the North. Some of them were well known and belonged to long living families of boats of the same name, still in existence: Ascata, Acacia, No-se... Many of them used cotton sails well into the Sixties. That fleet of more than a dozen of boats was slowly diluted towards the end of that decade and by today no Six is to be found in Barcelona. The Gobio pertains to that fleet and she belonged to the Real Club Marítimo. Her owner designed many years ago a modernist looking roof, to close her cockpit. It can be also dismounted. She needs a restoration to come back to her original lines. Thus her interesting asking price.
