Philippe Briand has always designed very fast and very elegant boats. His Mari-Cha III for example, established the Atlntic cross record in 1998. His more modern Vertigo or the CNB range of big cruisers are other fine and fast vessels. When Jeanneau came to the decision to replace the range of big Sun Odysseys, it was about the end of the first decade of this century. The boat to replace was the successful Sun Odyssey 54DS and Philippe Briand was called to design the hulls of the two models that were to come in: the Jeanneau 53 and 57. These boats were the first Jeanneau in years not to spot the Sun Odyssey brand. They were fast and elegant boats with a lower deck line than the S.O. 54. But nothing was spared for them to be fine blue water cruisers. Ample spaces on deck, with a huge cockpit (protected by a perfect bimini and a good windshield, as new) offering a big dinette around a big sized table. Around the companionway, two independent sun beds to lay down and rest while the helmans can single handle the boat not disturbing passengers. The sunbathig platform forward is enormous and the molded anti-skid very efficient. Down below this model was offered with many different lay-outs, designed by Vittorio Garroni. The offered version has five cabins plus crew quarters and three heads with shower. On the forepeak, that could be transformed into a sixth cabin, there is space enough to load many sails, the stored dinghy and outboard. The teak Alpi wood is very elegant, robust and ecologic. This boat is very well kept throughout and although she has been used for charter she present no traces of bad use. She is then a perfect choice either to continue in business, for which purpose she has Italian and Spanish licenses for more than 60 nm sailing or for personal use of her next new owner.
