The Swedish shipyard Malö Yachts was founded in 1939 by Johannes Olsson and started building fibreglass boats in 1969, with the support of Swedish naval architects such as Leif Ängermark. Over time these boats developed a reputation for being tough, well-built and good sailing yachts and distinguished themselves from other Swedish boat builders by their use of the arch over the cockpit, which anchors the mainsheet and removes the manoeuvring of the mainsail from the social area of the cockpit itself. The Malö 38 is a traditional cruiser, with moderate water lines, without distortions due to racing formulas. As a result, it sails fast, safe and agile in all conditions.
