Boatbuilding and shipwrights have a long tradition throughout the Balearic Islands. In the second half of the 20th century, several families of boatbuilders stood out, including Pau Ferrer in Palma, who was renowned for both the quality and quantity of his boats. He built sailboats, motorboats and motosailers of all sizes, and even built a series of Dragons for regattas. His boats are highly regarded today for the seriousness of his approach to their design and construction. Towards the end of his career, Pau Ferrer wanted to start a small series of cruising motorboats that were simple and economical to build and use. Under the Movepeco brand, two models were initially presented, the largest of which was the Movepeco 1000, ten metres long, which was already a significant length for the time. The beautiful finishes, full of details that today appear luxurious, place it among the most select of sports boat builders in Spain. The Sagitario 2 was the second and last to be built and is now in magnificent condition. Its elegant silhouette includes different areas that can be used at the same time, while maintaining a high level of privacy: in the foredeck, either on the cabin roof or on deck, there are ample spaces for sunbathing. Access to the stern is safe on both sides and a large cockpit, partially protected by the cabin roof, offers plenty of space for sitting down to eat or socialise. Access to the interior is very easy and the atmosphere is spacious, cool and private. The saloon has a practical foldaway table that can be converted into a double bed. The head is of a good size and the electric toilet makes life on board easier. The small forward cabin is suitable for sleeping or reading a book while lying down. The engine is a timeless six-cylinder Perkins, located in an open and accessible engine room. Throughout, the boat's structure appears sound and well painted. A characteristic feature of the Sagitario 2 is her figurehead, a female figure, carved in wood. Mounted by one of her successive owners. This is an elegant motorboat, perfect for those new to classic sailing, without major present or future expenses.
