The Slovenian shipyard Elan started production in the 1940s, building kayaks and canoes. From the 1960s onwards, a series of small pleasure boats began to be built, which grew in size in the following decade and in the 1980s established a reputation for good quality boats, usually to designs by the Jakopin brothers. From 1995 onwards, the yard relied on the renowned English naval architect Rob Humphreys for its new models, some of which were even awarded boat of the year in their respective sectors. Today the Elan is at the forefront of the market thanks to cutting-edge technology and a modern, balanced design. The E series develops within the range the cruiser-racer or fast cruiser theme. Hull and deck are vacuum-laminated, using vinylester resin and biaxial fabrics. The bulkheads of this E 5 model are made of composite, with epoxy resin and are laminated to the hull and deck, ensuring a monolithic structure of great rigidity. The same applies to the hull and deck reinforcements. The chainplates are attached to a reinforcement structure vacuum-laminated to the hull. The keel has a top plate that is recessed in a hull seat and its huge bolts are reinforced by impressively sized interior backing plates made specifically for each boat one at a time. The mast is keel stepped and is supported by a huge mast-foot that distributes the stresses evenly throughout the hull. Both rudders are composite and the rudder system is independent of each other, ensuring the boat's manoeuvrability in any condition.
The hull design has an accentuated wedge shape with a pronounced speed chine that favours performance and limits heel. On deck the manoeuvring areas are well delimited and there are large platforms for sunbathing. The very good quality and well-worked teak has been protected by varnish on this unit, according to an old tradition of Nordic origin. Inside, the three spacious cabins offer good habitability which can be enhanced by the convertible saloon and navigation tables. The owner's cabin is spacious and very well ventilated. The water and fuel capacities ensure a discreet range in cruising mode, while the good quality sails are a guarantee of excellent sensations in terms of speed.
This fairly recent unit is in enviable condition, well cared for by her attentive owner. The boat is for sale due to the little use she has been put to, which is confirmed by the low engine hours. An engine which is even one of Volvo Penta's most robust models.
